Barneys is turning its blog The Window into a full-blown printed magazine. The Wall Street Journal reports that this week, the department store will mail out 120,000 copies of the first edition of its 144-page magazine. The launch is timed to the kickoff of New York Fashion Week, and unlike Net-a-Porter's Porter, won't be on sale on newsstands and will instead be mailed to Barneys' best customers.
The Window will be published twice a year, with two issues a year for women and two issues a year for men. It will feature fashion spreads with high-profile models and reported articles about topics like travel destinations, food and wellness. The magazine features no outside ads because the entire publication is one big ad for Barneys: every item featured is shoppable at the department store.
