The Wall Street Journal examines how men and women's priorities differ when buying a house, and the results were pretty surprising. Single men value having a walk-in closet much more than single women (38% vs. 29%) although married couples value it highest of all. The same sort of dynamic appeared when people were polled regarding the importance of having new kitchen appliances. 32% of single men rated it as a highly significant asset, while just 21% of single women rated it in their top home-buying priorities. Not all stereotypes were struck down, though: "Women are mostly interested in kitchens and the flow of the floor plan for entertaining. Men are mostly interested in garages, attics and crawl spaces," one broker said. "Even hearing the words come out of my mouth, I feel like it's so stereotypical."
