Worst Dressed of the 2015 Oscars

Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.

In the 87th year of the Academy Awards, the relevance of red carpet outfits is consistently called into question, both stylistically (oh another mermaid gown, huh?) and culturally (successful women being paraded around in fancy clothes again, huh?). With this in mind, major statements and even slight variations from the beaten path are more than welcome–but not all experimentation is good experimentation. We've rounded up the least successful looks of the night in the gallery above, and saved the best looks for right here.
