Giuliana Rancic and Kelly Osbourne conjured a firestorm of Twitter anger after The Fashion Police hosts made racially ignorant comments about Zendaya Coleman's dreadlock extensions.
During E!'s post-Oscars show, the 18-year-old actress's hair prompted Giuliana to "feel like [Zendaya] smells like patchouli," to which Kelly offered, "Or weed." Giuliana affirms the suggestion, while stylist and personality Brad Goreski cackled in the background.
Zendaya responded with a typed reaction late last night on Twitter. She begins with "there is a fine line between what is funny and disrespectful:"

Giuliana clarified that she was getting at a "bohemian chic" look:
Dear @Zendaya, I'm sorry I offended you and others. I was referring to a bohemian chic look. Had NOTHING to do with race and NEVER would!!!

While Kelly's own defense is more...defensive:
I WILL NOT BE DRAGED INTO THIS! The situation is being rectified like ADULTS by both parties. I hope you can leave it to them & do the same!

you guys do realize that @Zendaya is my friend right?

Update: Kelly Osbourne has alleged via Twitter that she did not make the weed comment in reference to Zendaya. The Fashion Police judge is so stirred up from the situation, she has even threatened to quit the show entirely.
Im giving everyone involved 24 hours to make it right or the world will hear how I really feel. contactually Im not allowed to speak!

Update: Giuliana Rancic made a serious apology on Tuesday night's E! News. She asks forgiveness from Zendaya and anyone else she may have offended during Monday night's Fashion Police. She admits, "This really has been a learning experience for me," and is aware of the damage words can do.

Zendaya has responded to Giuliana's on-camera apology with a note on Instagram, quoting Martin Luther King Jr. and urging others to "Be that light and spread that love."
