Following in Walmart's footsteps, the parent company of T.J.Maxx, Home Goods, and Marshalls is planning to raise the company's minimum wage to $9 an hour (or about $18,000 per year) in June 2015, according to CNN Money. In the following year, workers who have been with the company for more than six months will get a pay increase to $10 an hour. The federal minimum wage is still $7.25 per hour, although President Obama has proposed hiking it up to $10.10. The move has been blocked in Congress.
