According to Eater, Ikea will start rolling out vegan meatballs after PETA put the brand in the hot seat for agreeing to produce vegetarian meatballs but not addressing veganism. "We reminded IKEA that people are making the switch to vegan eating in droves—and offering vegan foods would ensure that all customers leave the store satisfied," PETA wrote in a celebratory blog post. The new meatballs will arrive in Ikea cafeterias in April.
