Lilly Pulitzer Fans Overwhelm Target Stores

Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to Vox.com, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.

If you hoped to shop the much-hyped Lilly Pulitzer for Target collab online after yesterday's "Pink Sunday" launch, you're probably out of luck. A scan of the website reveals that there's nothing left in the women's section online and almost everything in the plus-size section is sold out, except the high-waist bikini bottom in the Fan Dance print in sizes 20 through 24. The matching bikini top is gone, though.

There are no bags, shoes, beauty items or accessories left online. The home section is pretty much decimated, and the only items available online are the Lilly Pulitzer for Target Cast Iron White Umbrella Base (but no patio umbrella) and Lilly string lights. However, for items that are sold in store, you could search Target's website to see if any products are left in any locations near you.

For many Lilly Nation fans who stayed up late to shop the collab, the online launch was marred by problems with the Target website. According to the Star Tribune, some Lilly x Target items became available through the Target mobile site first, but then at 3 a.m. Target's web site went offline due to the traffic surge. Fortune reports that the collection was available at 6 a.m. on Target's site, but sold out so quickly that many shoppers who waited throughout the night couldn't purchase anything.

Target spokesman Joshua Thomas told Fortune via email: "Due to heavy traffic, we experienced slowness to our site, resulting in an inconsistent experience for our guests. We realize there is an extreme amount of excitement around this collaboration, and we apologize for any disappointment this may have caused our guests."

Meanwhile in Target stores, the collection sold out within hours, and in some cases mere minutes, at Targets across the country. On social media, shoppers are reporting their Targets sold out of Lilly merchandise within as little as four minutes. Racked NY live-blogged the Lilly launch, counting at least 80 people in line before 8 a.m. Here are some epic Lilly line photos across the country:
