Giuliana Rancic, E! Network Roomba 3000™, explained to Today Show host Savannah Guthrie that the Zendaya fiasco could be chalked up to bad editing. Peace sign gestures and the word "hippy" were removed from her comments, which ended up downplaying her reference to a general "bohemian" culture, making it appear that she was zeroing in on black culture specifically. Her explanation begins at 3:25.
Before that, however, Rancic addressed another controversial issue from the red carpet: Her weight.
It was something that I didn't feel like I ever needed to talk about because weight is very personal, whether you're over weight, under weight, whatever. But it became very distracting. I would go on the internet afterwards and 99% of the comments were about my weight.
She revealed that she has never had an eating disorder and her weight loss in the last year has been a side effect of cancer meds.
