The minimum wage increase that Walmart announced in February goes into effect for the pay period starting April 4th for Walmart workers across the country. According to Newsday, about 500,000 Walmart employees nationwide will be receiving pay raises this month.

All Walmart associates will now earn at least $9 per hour as of April 4th, and Walmart associates will get another pay bump in February 2016 so that all current associates will earn at least $10 per hour. Walmart employees will now make at least $1.75 an hour above both the federal minimum wage. The first check paid to associates with the higher wage will be delivered on April 23, according to the Chattanooga Times Free Press.
