In order to take its footwear collection even further, Opening Ceremony is linking up with Aldo Product Services, a division of retail chain Aldo Group. Business of Fashion reports that the two companies signed a global licensing agreement for footwear for Spring/Summer 2016, with Opening Ceremony designing the collection and Aldo Product Services handling the production and manufacturing.
"As a company, we are committed to growing this category and it was important for us to expand into areas in the footwear line that we previously were not able to access due to production constraints," Opening Ceremony co-founder Carol Lim told Business of Fashion. "With APS, we don't run into those types of issues anymore."
Together, Opening Ceremony and Aldo Product Services will work to figure out a new wholesale network of boutiques and international partners. Getting Opening Ceremony's shoes into more stores in just part of the brand's overall expansion plans: with help from investors like Boston-based private equity firm Berkshire Partners, Opening Ceremony's founders Lim and Humberto Leon have stated that they want to open more stores and branch out into more categories like beauty.
