The company behind the Mall of America and the bonkers, in-development American Dream mall in New Jersey wants to build an even bigger, more bonkers mall in Miami, Racked Miami reports. The plan is to open a $4 billion, 200-acre entertainment complex called American Dream Miami that would be the largest mall in the US, according to the Daily Business Review. And because shops aren't enough, it's slated to offer submarine rides, an amusement park with a roller coaster, sea lion shows, an indoor ski slope, water park, skating rink, a Ferris wheel, hotels, and condominiums.
It's one step closer to happening, as the Miami Herald reports. Last month, Florida governor Rick Scott and a four-member Cabinet approved a land deal that allows American Dream Miami developer Triple Five to purchase 82 acres of state land for the project. Not everyone's on board with the humongous mall proposal, though. Local malls in the area campaigned against the American Dream deal, the Herald reports, and according to the Daily Business Review, others raised questions about the project's feasibility in light of public transportation infrastructure and water resources.
