Genetically-Blessed Men in Face Paint: Behind the Scenes at Alexandre Plokhov

Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.

If there's anything we've learned behind the scenes at New York Fashion Week: Men's, it's that male models just wanna have fun. Our photographer Driely S. headed backstage at the futuristic Alexandre Plokhov show, capturing models goofing around before hair and make-up, having dramatic face paint applied, and practicing the run of show.

Check out her amazing photos in the gallery above, and for even more, scope Matiere's backstage and the best street style from the week.
