As we've previously discussed, July 4th is a ridiculously easy holiday to dress for, and we love it for that (and for barbecues, pool parties, fireworks, etc). While jean shorts and ironic Budweiser tees are a fine combo, there are more interesting ways to wear your patriotism, proven by three stylish women in the images below. We've broken down why each of the different looks work, and found the key buys to recreate them yourself.

This outfit has all of the breezy benefits of shorts, but with the surprising length of pants. Kidding aside, the destroyed straight leg denim gives a classic jeans-and-and-a-tee combo serious edge. Top it off with great accessories like a bucket bag and easy slides.

  • Persol sunglasses, $345
  • 3.1 Phillip Lim boxy t-shirt, $125 (from $250)
  • One Teaspoon 'super baggies' jeans, $148
  • Rebecca Minkoff 'Mini Fiona' bucket bag, $136.50 (from $195)
  • Tibi 'Kirsi' slides, $237 (from $395)
  • Madewell bangle set, $35

Nautical stripes are nearly synonymous with July 4th style. Here, they play nicely with a shin-grazing linen skirt in a look that's great for kicking it with family or just being low key comfortable. Bright red isn't friendly to many complexions; working it in below the waist is a solid Americana hack.

  • Saint James for J.Crew tee, $90
  • Isa Arfen skirt, $453 (from $755)
  • Ancient Greek Sandals 'Filia Sabot' clog sandals, $290
  • Lana 30" mother of pearl necklace, $710

Here's another case for stripes, this time paired with an A-line mini for a slightly '60s vibe. To really channel the holiday spirit, swap in a red bag.

  • Jimmy Choo 'Cindy' sunglasses, $405
  • ASOS striped t-shirt, $15 (from $22)
  • Kenzo skirt, $540
  • Chloé 'Faye' bag, $1,390
  • Schutz 'Erlina' lace-up sandal, $200
