Manolo Blahnik will launch its first full handbag collection at the end of this month, Vogue UK reports. If you've seen the brand's famous Hangisi satin pumps, these Manolo evening bags might look familiar. The jewel-like satin clutches are studded with Swarovski crystals in intricate designs. "I love ornaments in my shoes so why not add these to the bags too? These bags are an extension of some of the shoe styles I really like as I wanted to keep the connection between the shoes and bags," Blahnik told Vogue UK.
The capsule collection of clutches will retail for $1,725 to $1,925, according to WWD, and will be available at Manolo Blahnik's flagship stores in London and New York and at British department stores Liberty and Harrods. There are no plans to sell the clutches online, but it sounds like handbags are going to become a mainstay for the designer shoe brand.
Blahnik told Vogue UK: "I like to make things beautifully and sometimes to get something right it takes time. At the moment I have no plans to make other accessories. For the moment I would like to enjoy the bags, and I am already thinking about more bags for next season!" WWD reports that though the brand has produced one-off bags before, this is collection marks the start of a new category for Manolo Blahnik with Spring 2016 bags in the works and day bags are under consideration as well.
