No brand can resist the selling power of Star Wars, not even drugstore makeup staple CoverGirl. Allure has an exclusive look at CoverGirl's upcoming Star Wars-themed makeup line (yep, that's happening), complete with a behind-the-scenes look at the ad campaign with "Droid" and "Stormtrooper" makeup looks designed by none other that Pat McGrath.
In case you're already researching what to wear to the movie's premiere—on December 18th—let this campaign be a guide to upgrading a typical Star Wars costume by about 1,000 notches. McGrath, who has worked on countless faces for Prada, Givenchy, Vogue, and more, tells Allure that the "Droid" was modeled after C-3PO, hence all the gold. "I wanted her to look beautiful, with strong gold eyes and gold lips," McGrath says. The Stormtrooper, on the other hand, displays a lot of geometric shapes and hard lines to underscore the military background.
The CoverGirl Star Wars kit includes six shades of limited edition lipstick ranging from $5.99 to $7.99, three nail polish shades from $4.99 to $6.99, and black mascara ($5.99 for regular, $7.49 for waterproof) in limited-edition tubes inscribed with memorable Star Wars quotes. The collection launches on September 4th. Check out some product images below, and Allure just posted an unboxing video devoted to the collection.
