Not even a full week after Balenciaga confirmed its split with former creative director Alexander Wang, the rumors have started to fly again. This time, WWD reports that unnamed sources say Wang is already close to finalizing a deal to bring in more money for his namesake line. This was reportedly why Wang and Balenciaga broke up, so that he could direct all of his attention toward building his own brand.
In the report, WWD points out that even though Wang was splitting his time between his own line and Balenciaga, the Alexander Wang line has been incredibly successful in the past couple of years. The denim line that Wang launched last December completely sold out. Wang's collaboration with H&M was a terrifying success. The brand just opened its largest flagship store in the world and is reportedly worth $100 million right now, although that number will drive up even further when the new round of investment comes in.
