"Wearing this Samantha Pleet jumpsuit ($298) is akin to wearing sweatpants — it's really that comfortable. The thing that sold me is how versatile it is, though. The tie-front allows the neckline to be styled high or low, and it looks just as good dressed down with sneakers as it does with heels. The fabric is slightly stretchy (very forgiving).
I wasn't planning on buying another jumpsuit. I have one already, a black tuxedo style, but I was killing time before yoga at the Soho boutique American Two Shot when I happened upon this one. After trying it on and realizing how genius it was, I couldn't leave without it.
For a casual day look, I've been wearing my new jumpsuit with classic white sneakers, like these Chuck Taylors ($75). The comfort level is 'total slob,' but it masquerades as looking put together."

What I splurge on: Recently I've been splurging on apartment decor like this Ay Illuminate sisal lamp.
What I save on: Bedding — Ikea actually makes great comforters and sheets. I also cheap out on suitcases. I travel a lot, and they get so beat up. I have a hard-shell style from Muji that I highly recommend.
Best piece of shopping advice I've gotten: Once I realized that trends were almost always uniformly ugly, I've been much better equipped to resist their pull. It's not a classic for a reason.
