Netflix's New Movies and Teen TV: A List of What's Coming in October

A new month means a new paycheck, a new beauty box subscription, and a slew of new Netflix movies and shows for you to familiarize yourself with. The biggest chunk of newness will arrive on October 1st, with a solid amount rolling in on the 2nd, 6th, and 16th, so reschedule plans accordingly. There's something for you inner chef (Bobby Flay! Worst Cooks in America!), the reality TV junkie who's seen everything (four seasons of The Vanilla Ice Project), and something for musical lovers (On the Town!).

The full list (down below) may be a bit tough to parse, so we've recommended a handful of titles to prioritize come October. So gather your best binge-watching attire from the hamper, and queue the following up:

Boogie Nights: Mark Wahlberg plays Dirk Diggler, a rising star in the porn industry in the 1997 movie. This gem will be available to stream on October 1st.

Million Dollar Baby: This Clint Eastwood-directed movie starring Hilary Swank cleaned up at the Oscars in 2005. It won Best Picture, Best Actress, Best Director, and Best Actor in a Supporting Role. Prepare to see it on your very, very small screen October 1st.

Vampire Diaries: For those who like to watch this teen-adored show, yet don't want to pay for it, October 2nd is your day. The sixth season will finally hit Netflix, and the seventh airs on October 8th, giving you six full days to catch up. Piece of cake.

iZombie: You've heard it's good, maybe now you'll actually watch it. Season one of this new CW classic is landing October 6th.

The Mr. Peabody and Sherman Show: The Dreamworks Animation reboot made specifically for Netflix, has Chris Parnell and Max Charles voicing the time-traveling pals. You can begin streaming on October 9th.

Winter of Fire: Here's another Netflix original that is currently playing in select theaters. The documentary chronicling the unrest in Ukraine during 2013 and 2014 arrives on October 9th.

Jane the Virgin: The CW show for which actress Gina Rodriguez won a Golden Globe will premiere its second season the same day the first hits Netflix: October 12th. Can you watch the entire first season by 9pm EST? Yes, yes you can.

Beasts of No Nation: The film by Cary Fukunaga (the director of the good season ofTrue Detective) and starring Idris Elba, is Netflix's first original feature film. The movie was well-received at various film festivals and will be on Netflix along with select theaters on the 16th.

August: Osage County: Although the film did not win an Oscar, it was nominated twice, which is more than most Netflix movies can say. If you need more convincing, Meryl Streep and Julia Roberts play a mother and daughter. Enjoy a little family dysfunction on October 27th, before the more fear-based entertainment starts.
