First Lady Michelle Obama is probably just like your friends who won’t stop talking about how obsessed they are with SoulCycle. The New York Times reports that Obama schedules private workout sessions at local SoulCycles in the Washington D.C. area. The workout is in-line with the fitness initiatives FLOTUS has been promoting during her time in the White House and she has been involved with SoulCycle for some time now.
Obama posted a video on Twitter that espoused the virtues of SoulCycle last year. "I love it when my girls join me for a little SoulCycle," she said when asked about her favorite workouts. "We all are in the dark, moving to the beat on the bikes. We love it."
Now, Obama does the workout class in privately scheduled classes with friends, aides, and her daughters, according to the NYT. She even does a class with an instructor who uses one of Barack Obama's campaign slogans, "Yes, you can," to inspire cyclers.
Julia Rice, SoulCycle's co-founder, says that the workout is great for Obama because it not only provides a way to stay active, but she "know it's safe and anonymous, and they can actually engage in a group activity as part of a community."
