The biggest night in Hollywood finally has its guest list. This morning at 8:30 a.m., John Krasinski, Guillermo del Toro, Ang Lee, and Academy President Cheryl Boone Isaacs announced the nominees for the 88th annual Oscars. Simultaneously, dozens of celebrities woke up to the very best phone call an actor can receive.
This year's Oscar nominations include plenty of expected recipients (Leonardo DiCaprio, Brie Larson, and Cate Blanchett for Best Actor and Actress, respectively), as well as some relative surprises (where were Carol, Star Wars, and Straight Outta Compton in the Best Picture category?). They'll join second-time host Chris Rock when the awards show takes place at the Dolby Theater in Hollywood late next month, as well as the yet-to-be announced lineup of presenters.
Among other questions (Will Leo finally get that Oscar? Will J. Law make it to the stage in one piece? Will she smoke weed beforehand?), we won't find out who will take home each award until the event airs Sunday, February 28th on ABC, here's everyone who's officially in the running:
