If the first footage from the Wonder Woman movie is any indication, the daughter of Zeus is highly adept at two things: fighting in slow motion, and pulling off great headwear. During a DC Comics special on the CW last night, the studio revealed the first look at Israeli actress Gal Gadot in her starring role in Wonder Woman. Despite television series like Supergirl and Jessica Jones, Entertainment Weekly notes this will be the first major superhero movie led by a female character since the decade-old Elektra.
It won't be the first time Wonder Woman will appear onscreen until next year, however. Gal Gadot will make her debut in the upcoming film Batman Vs. Superman: Dawn of Justice, which premieres March 24th.
Though it doesn't hit theaters until June 2017, the 45-second footage shows its lead character riding horses through an ominous-looking forest, wielding her shield in battle in dramatic slo-mo, and trying on some cute glasses in the mirror.
Also of note: The myriad of spectacular headwear featured in the clip, from Wonder Woman's chunky tiara to her very French-girl bowler hat, and perhaps most importantly, Chris Pine (who plays Wonder Woman's love interest Steve Trevor) in a fetching newsboy cap. Watch the full clip below.
