Amber Rose, when not coming up with delightful hashtags or wearing shirts that say "Make eye contact while eating a banana" a day after stepping into the most important Twitter feud of our time, is also a part-time essayist. In a short piece for Time entitled "How I Learned to Stop Caring About What Other People Think," Rose explains exactly that.
She begins by describing the double standards she experienced after her divorce from Wiz Khalifa — she'd go out on a date and be called a ho, while Wiz could be photographed in a car full of women and people would say, "He's the man!" It's not unlike the misogynist comments Kanye made yesterday, in which he attacked Wiz for "letting a stripper trap him."
So how do you deal with it all? Just ask Amber:
But I realized that I can't make everyone believe. And I can't talk to everyone and tell them who I really am. They're still going to have their own opinions. If you know me, you love me. If you don't know me, you might love me, but you might not — and that's cool. And you know what? Now I sleep like a baby at night.
It's simple: be like Amber Rose, sleep like a baby.
