While tonight's SAG Awards opted to go host-less, the Screen Actors Guild tapped Tina Fey and Amy Poehler to present legendary comedian Carol Burnett (who eventually changed out of her baller Ugg slippers) with the Lifetime Achievement Award. Though it sadly wasn't as long as a host's monologue, they did manage to squeeze in a few jokes proving that yes, comedy is the superior medium.
Believe it or not, the requisite reference to Carol wasn't even the best one. (While listing Burnett's film credits, Tina included "this year's unauthorized biopic, Carol, about her longtime friendship with Julie Andrews.")
Instead, it was when Amy called out the rest of Hollywood for its obsession with The Revenant (which, congrats on your SAG, Leo!). "While we're at it, let's all calm down about Leonardio DiCaprio and how hard to was to shoot The Revenant," she began. "So you slept in a horse and you ate bison liver, big whoop. Carol would have slept in that horse, worn it, done a song and a dance, and made a much funnier face after eating something very disgusting."
She wrapped up the speech, "The point is, Carol is better than all of us. We're gonna give her a prize for it." Watch the whole speech below.
