Cold weather is no joke. If you haven't (at least once) tried wrapping one of your grandma's knitted throws around your neck à la Lenny Kravitz, now's the perfect time to hop on the cozy bandwagon via the blanket scarf. Its large size and extra coverage make it a go-to for protective winter dressing. On the fall 2015 runways, Richard Chai Love showcased some with fringe, and ADEAM kept it minimal with gray cashmere — though now you can find them in virtually any style or color.

Unlike the skinny scarf, the blanket scarf is much more useful. It not only plays into the exaggerated proportions and layering techniques that made waves this fall, but it also serves a purpose: keeping you warm when you finally muster up the courage to leave the house. Pair the cream-colored ASOS scarf in the gallery with a turtleneck and blue jeans, or opt for a textured one, like the Aritzia version that's pretty enough to drape on your living room couch and your outfit. Shop all of these and more above.
