Justin Bieber's New Girlfriend, Explained

Yesterday, Rolling Stone released an interview with Selena Gomez, the former half of Jelena, that gave a pretty definitive end for her relationship with Justin Bieber. "I am so beyond done with talking about that, and him," she said, referring to both Bieber and their dinner date serenade. However, out of the cold, unfeeling concrete sprouts new love in the form of Bieber and Hailey Baldwin. Bieldwin? Jailey? Time will tell, but the relationship became Instagram official after Bieber posted a number of pictures of Hailey and him together — including one of them lip-locked and another with matching braids — in Anguilla and St. Barts over the weekend.

So with a nation of Beliebers trained on the relationship, here's everything you need to know about Bieber's new better half.

But no, not that Baldwin. Hailey was born November 22nd, 1996 to Stephen Baldwin and his wife Kennya. Stephen is one of Alec's less-famous brothers, but his IMDB page is nothing to sneeze at, with roles in movies like The Usual Suspects, The Flintstones in Viva Rock Vegas, and Bio-Dome. Stephen was arrested for failing to pay his taxes in 2012 and also has a Hannah Montana tattoo on his shoulder that he got after he was promised an appearance on the show. In a shocking twist, Stephen now regrets the tattoo.

While Hailey and Stephen haven't had a famed fight a la Alec telling his daughter she was a "rude thoughtless pig" via voicemail, they do have a couple headline-making moments. Namely, Stephen told The Guardian in January of 2010, "Jesus or no Jesus, if my kid started working in a strip club, I'd beat her ass."

Thankfully, he feels less strongly about Hailin. He explained to Splash News earlier this year, when rumors of Bieber and Hailey dating first cropped up, that, "No. They're not [dating.] And it's just nice to see in this day and age that two adults, who have known each other since she was 12, can just be friends. Isn't that cool?" When asked how'd he feel about Hailey like-liking Bieber he said, "I think it's best that they just be friends."

Famous Friends a Famous Family Makes

Hailey doesn't hang out with famous friends exclusively, but you're likely to recognize most of the faces on her Instagram. She grew up with the famous Baldwin name and now mostly associates with other celebs. She and Kendall Jenner got "friendship tattoos" last summer, as famous BFFs do.

While Hailey waits on the official stamp of approval from Taylor Swift, she's hung out with Drake, Kylie Jenner, Justine Skye, and Orange Is the New Black breakout Ruby Rose.

Hailey's Career Path Was Fated

It's almost a rule that if you have a famous family, you become a model. Baldwin is currently signed to Heroes Models in New York and has walked high-profile runway shows for the likes of Tommy Hilfiger, Moschino, Phillip Plein, and Topshop.

The model has also starred in campaigns for Ralph Lauren, Topshop, and teen retail heavyweight Brandy Melville. Baldwin also caught the acting bug from her family and will surely star in some VMA-award-winning movies in the future. "In my spare time I like to act," she told her original modeling agency, Ford Models. "I love theatre. One thing a lot of people don't know about me is that I'm obsessed with Broadway musicals and I trained for about seven years in musical theatre."

And Now It's Time for the Good Part

"My life is a movie, and everyone's watching. So let's get to the good part and past all the nonsense," Bieber sings on his single "I'll Show You." And after years of off-again, on-again love with Gomez and a novel's worth of tabloid stories describing Bieber's hookups with random models and prostitutes, this is a relationship that actually makes sense.

Bieber and Hailey have known each other since they were 13 years old, according to the model, which is longer time than all three of Kim Kardashians marriages combined. They have both shot down dating rumors separately in the past year or so. Bieber took to Instagram to tell the world in December 2014, "People are crazy. I'm super single and this is my good friend u would know otherwise [sic]." Now, Bieber and Hailey are doing just normal couple stuff, like traveling the world together, dominating tabloids, and, of course, getting matching cornrows. We can only hope this leads to a lifetime of chillin' by the fire, eating fondue, and flying around the globe like two Buzz Lightyears.
