"I had to talk myself into these boots. How practical are backless shoes? What about weather? What about the elements? They ended up being so comfortable when I tried them on that all my doubts fell away. They are like walking on butter or clouds. The designers, Hsuan Pai and Harel Waldman, use butter-cloud leather (patent pending, I'm sure).
This year, the weather seemingly bowed to the shoes, delivering ideal temps for clogs (from about 50 to 80 degrees on the east coast through December). And when it finally dropped below 50 in New York, I was already so spoiled by comfortable and outfit-defining footwear that I just threw on socks and kept walking. So far, no frostbite.
The boots also have a truly satisfying click-clack thanks to the hollowed out nature of the heel. The first time I wore them, a stranger stopped me on the street to ask if I knew a good cobbler because he 'heard my shoes and assumed you would known one.' These Wal and Pai clogs go with almost anything and they make you seem knowledgeable in shoe repair. I can't offer a more rousing recommendation than that."
