How to Shop the MAC Mariah Carey Collection

It’s finally here.

Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to Vox.com, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.

After weeks of leaks and speculation about MAC’s Mariah Carey collection – Will it be sparkly? Will it have a butterfly? – we finally have some answers: Yes and HELL YES.

The collection will hit MAC stores and the website on December 15th. The collection includes five lipsticks in frost and cremesheen finishes ($20), five Lipglass shades ($18.50), two lip pencils ($22), two eyeshadow quads ($41), one liquid liner ($22), two sets of lashes ($18), a gold shimmer Skinfinish with her face embossed on it ($45.50), two blushes ($24), two powder blushes ($24), a loose powder ($39.50), and two brushes.

If you are the type who collects limited-edition collections, this one has some obvious must-haves in it. The lipsticks are cased in packaging that look like it’s been dipped in glitter, and the actual bullet is embossed with a butterfly. The Skinfinish, as already noted, has Mariah’s face on it. How can you possibly use that? You can’t, so just buy two and keep one in a special box.

From a color perspective, the eyeshadow quads are both excellent neutrals, one warmer and one cooler. The lipsticks are all very Mariah-esque browns and peaches. There is nothing bold to be found here. The Lipglasses are all, obviously, shimmery. Shade names include things like “I Get So OOC,” “MCizzle,” and “Diamond Butterfly.” Forget about tasteful creams and just enjoy the pure exuberant sparkle that is Mariah and this collection.

No word from MAC yet whether or not this collection will be available to shop early for MAC Obsessed or Devoted members like the Selena collection was, but we’ll update when we hear.

Update: MAC has confirmed that Obsessed and Devoted members will be able to shop the collection on December 5th.
