Hands down, the item I’ve gotten the most compliments on throughout the years is my wrap sweatshirt from Oak. I can’t take credit for finding this — I copied my roommate at the time, whose style was sort of girly-goth in a cool, Brooklyn way, with lots of rings and tattoos — but this thing is genius. Laid flat it’s basically a blanket with arms, but on the body it drapes in a way that feels very Rick Owens without being over-the-top.
This sweatshirt is your perfect partner for the airport (no seriously, it’s so good for planes, you should definitely buy one if you fly a lot) and looks as good with dresses as it does with jeans. You can wear it hanging open or tuck one edge under the opposite shoulder for a wrap effect. In the winter, I use it as an under layer for all my fall coats to keep them going a bit longer; it gives shorter jackets a whole new (and very purposeful) look.
Here’s another reason to buy this sweatshirt: While I think it’s 100 percent worth the $135 price tag, Oak is running a 50% off Black Friday sale for everything in the online store now through Sunday.
