Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to Vox.com, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.
Generally, when a collaboration sells out before you’ve had the chance to jump on it, it’s over. You end up kicking yourself all season long for your negligence, or scouring sites like Ebay and The Real Real in the hopes of finding someone looking to part with theirs (usually at double the original price).
Thankfully, that is not the case with the Poms x Pared sunglass collab, now available for pre-order on its third run. The last collab between the Australian accessories brands sold out back in August before I could buy a pair; this time, I refuse to let it slip through my fingers.
Both labels are known for making fun, bold pieces — Poms for jewelry with a heavy emphasis on beading and restructured shapes, and Pared for its chunky, square frames. The latest collection, which includes six iterations of a sleek cat eye frame called the Gatto, makes a playful nod to both brands with small hooped charms adorning the sides of the statement glasses.
I’ll be playing it safe with a black pair, but if you’re up for it, the translucent selection (pink, lilac, or clear) reads futuristic Barbie in the best way possible. Right now, you can pre-order through either brand’s website to make sure you don’t miss your chance.
