“I loved the dress,” said almost no bridesmaid ever. Across the board, bridesmaid dresses are largely horrible, from the fabric to the color to the expectation that one style or silhouette will look decent on several different humans.
Name of Love is a new bridesmaid dress brand with pretty dresses that aren’t terribly expensive. There are around a dozen different dress styles to choose from, and eight color options — ranging from a blush pink to black — for each. The Mia ($248) is a high-neck gown; the Joan (also $248) is a strapless column dress; and the Sydney ($198) is a more conservative shift. The dresses are all under $250, and the best part is that you could actually wear these again.
The runner-up best part is that you don’t have to go to a bridal store to try any of these on. Brides or bridesmaids can set up a “showroom” on the site where the entire group can check out different dress styles and colors, and orders can be placed in bulk. Currently, sizes run from 0 through 14, though Name of Love co-founder Merrill Moskal says that additional sizes might be possible down the road, after they’ve had more time to experiment and build up a customer base.
