Leave it to Vetements to drop one more collab before 2016 draws to a close.
Yesterday, Vetements and Comme des Garçons debuted a three-piece sweater collaboration, sold exclusively at Dover Street Market.
In the face of what many would call a pretty garbage year (particularly for LGBT rights), the collection offers something bright and cheery: a rainbow crewneck sweater; a purple sweater with a double-sided axe symbol, often associated with lesbian pride; and a blue striped “fetish” sweater with a red heart on the shoulder.
Sure, they go for a cool $625 (this is Vetements, after all). And sure, some may find irony in that, as one Instagram commenter put it, many “rich straight people are gonna cop these ‘LGBT Sweaters.’”
But in a year defined by Vetements and its many unconventional collaborations, this collection feels like an appropriate way to cap things off.
Unsurprisingly, they’re almost entirely sold out after just one day.
