As part of our new series on the best stores in the world, Jeni Britton Bauer, founder of Jeni’s Splendid Ice Creams, tells us about her favorite place to buy accessories.
I would nominate Emil Erwin as my favorite accessories store. Emil makes really stylish leather bags that I covet. They are minimal in design, making the materials and craftsmanship all the more important. Each bag is made by hand and with attention to the tiniest details.
Whatever is going on in Nashville, Emil Erwin seems to be ahead of it and to have played a role in what becomes stylish. Each year they update their designs, and you have to get your order in early because they don't make it until you order it. Behind their counter is an enormous wall sculpture that, when you look closely, you realize is made of shotgun shells. — Jeni Britton Bauer
