For the past few months I’ve been eyeing Westerlind Outdoor, a New York City-based shop that offers that rugged, urban look in a way that comes off as genuine instead of try-too-hard. The brand’s whole thing is technical outdoor gear that’s actually cute too — you can really wear this stuff while hiking, but it’s nice-looking enough to wear around the city; glancing at the selection, you might not even realize it’s meant for anything else.
I hadn’t quite been able to make up my mind on whether or not I’m into it. But the brand’s second collab with heritage wool company Woolrich sealed the deal for me: I love all of it. Out yesterday, the capsule collection includes wool shirts and ponchos (from $250) made by Woolrich, felt hats by Westerlind ($69.99), pom-pom pins ($40) made by an artisan in Iceland (available on 12/20), a wool skirt and some unexpected items from Japanese outdoor brand Snow Peak, like a camping chair ($350) and a titanium mug ($30) and silverware set ($50).
But the piece I’m most into, and the best candidate for gifting, are the amazingly soft Shepherd of Sweden slippers ($166). (There are even more styles on Westerlind’s website, too.)
