Every year, there's someone who's hard to shop for on my holiday list. The person who has everything; the person with really discerning taste who I want to impress; or the person who points out something they want, only to turn around and buy it for themselves. And every year, I always turn to one retailer — Best Made Co. — to find a good gift for that person.
I would use the word eclectic to describe the store’s inventory, but that doesn’t really do the mix of items justice: Le Moult Robes ($198), the NASA Graphics Standards Manual ($79), a Bauhaus Chess Set ($625), a Belgian Dart Board ($128), et cetera et cetera.
Tom Girard, Best Made Co.’s chief merchandising officer, says that the through-line for all these items is a balance of “incredible quality and beautiful, simple design.” It sounds like an overused phrase, but it’s hard to brush it off as one while looking at the store’s site. Where else can you find something like these wooden Cypress Sake Cups ($28) right next to a book on cloudspotting ($16)?
And that’s exactly what makes Best Made Co. such a great solution for a person who presents a gifting problem. Even if said person has a dart board, what are the chances that they have a beautiful Belgian dart board? The site offers a jillion little upgrades like this. Even the quote-unquote person who has everything is unlikely to have an Embassy Tactical Pen ($98) that’s cast in solid brass and stainless steel, a Sliding Match Safe ($28), Irreverent Ornaments ($98), or a “Big Jug” of Organic Maple Syrup ($98). Best Made Co.’s inventory makes for great gifts because it’s filled with things most people would probably never buy for themselves.
If you, like me, are the type of person who immediately sorts inventory “price low to high,” you’ll find that Best Made Co.’s selection doesn’t slump on that end, either. I honestly don’t know if you can find a better $8 gift than this artfully designed pack of Playing Cards.
And instead of giving someone that over-gifted Peach Candle, why not spend $10 and give them this Handmade Japanese Tomore Candle set ($10)? Because nothing says I really thought of you this holiday season more than the words “Handmade Japanese.” Speaking of, look at this cool Japanese Pocket Clip ($24)!
The point of me linking to all these products is to say, Best Made Co. has a wide variety of items that rise above the standard crap you’d find at other stores. It’s the trusty URL I turn to after exhausting all my resources because at the end of the day, it never hurts to gift someone something that just looks beautiful the second the wrapping paper comes off.
