Karolina Kurkova Dances in 20 Pairs of Shoes in Net-a-Porter’s New Ad

Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to Vox.com, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.

Today, Net-a-Porter is releasing its first accessories video, and it's fun. It's almost like a music video devoted solely to shoes.

In the video, model Karolina Kurkova blasts KK Harris's "Do That" and dances around a posh hotel suite stocked with boxes and boxes of designer shoes. She wears at least different 20 pairs, from chunky Burberry gold chain sandals to bright blue Mansur Gavriel mules.

The playful mood of Net-a-Porter's video ad could be part of the retailer's focus on contemporary brands and emerging designers, as steered by Sarah Rutson, vice president of global buying for Net-a-Porter.

"It’s a very inspiring time in the world of contemporary fashion and we’re seeing so many new and exciting brands emerge, alongside our existing stable of high performing contemporary brands," Rutson told Racked. "These brands have a strong fashion perspective at an amazing price point that is accessible for everyone. It not only allows us to offer something new to our existing customers but also to new customers."

Or maybe it's just the season. "As we move into spring and summer, our moods in general lighten up and we are more carefree. I feel this really embodies that spirit," Rutson said.

Rutson is forecasting that lace-up sandals and slip-on flat slides will be huge with customers this spring. Here are her other probable best-sellers, (besides the Gucci loafer, of course):

"Aquazzura’s Wild Thing continues to perform well along with it now being on a lower block heel has opened up a new customer and pom pom sandals embellishment will be very big for us. We’ve bought into the glove shoe from Martiniano which provides a very modern, cool girl look."

There, options for heels and flats and everything in between.
