At yesterday's #lit-themed Moschino show, the brand rolled out a new wacky phone case, following in the footsteps of its previous Windex, Barbie, and McD's cases. This season's effort is a $95 case that looks like a cartoon replica of a cigarette box, with little molded cigarettes and a "fashion kills" theme.
And yet, this morning we saw a woman with a phone case that looked so very similar to Moschino's, and she told us she got it two weeks ago. Her case had the fake cigarettes and a more literal, less tongue-in-cheek "smoking kills" tagline, but it was covered with Chanel logos. The Moschino phone case even has a joking interlocking question mark logo in a similar spot as this case's big Chanel logo.
Turns out, these cases are all over the Internet on Pinterest and in online shops. They look similar to these Chanel perfume-inspired phone cases, which Chanel sued Shop Jeen for selling due to the case's use of the logo.
We reached out to both Chanel and Moschino to see what exactly is up with this, because this all is sort of weird.
