The Bella Hadid Way to Show Skin This Winter

The first time you saw Bella Hadid may have been alongside Kendall and Kylie Jenner in Hollywood paparazzi photos a few years back. Or maybe your initial encounter with the 19-year-old was through her famous supermodel sister, Gigi, or her boyfriend, The Weeknd.

But despite her famous circle of friends and family, the youngest Hadid is quickly becoming a fixture in the fashion world, and she's got the runway portfolio to prove it. The model, who is also a nationally-ranked equestrian, walks in shows for Chanel and Balmain and has posed in magazine editorials for everyone from Love Magazine to Elle. And with new Marc Jacobs and Topshop campaigns under her belt this season, she's under the spotlight now more than ever.

Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.

Born and raised on the sunny California coast, Hadid's style is anything but. Her look is part goth-chic — she can't say no to an all-black get-up — and part sexy feminine vixen, with her lacey bralettes and skintight, partly see-through dresses. Here, we've laid out how she makes something as dainty as lace work with a dark color palette and edgy, leather accessories, and we're showing you how to shop it all for yourself.

From the looks of the fall 2015 and spring 2016 runways, skin is in, and can be found everywhere from Dior to fast fashion houses like Zara and ASOS. Hadid takes on the trend with a black, long-sleeved mesh dress straight off the Balmain runway. To make the look a little more severe, she slicks her hair back into a high ponytail and keeps her makeup clean and minimal. Polish it off with a leather jacket and you've got the perfect outfit for a night out with friends, or a fashion week afterparty with your top model bestie, Stella Maxwell.

Lingerie as everyday-wear was also a force on the spring runways, showing up at Balenciaga in the form of dainty blouses with built-in bralettes and Givenchy's lace gowns and slip-dresses. Hadid's take on the boudoir-inspired trend involves a lace bra layered under a bodysuit with high-waisted trousers and a halterneck see-through dress if you're looking for something a little more risqué. Feel free to throw in a pop of color with a graphic leather jacket, but don't go overboard. Stick to a sleek black handbag and simple heels to maintain her rebelliously sexy look.
