Yesterday, Elle France posted and then quickly deleted a story that the vacancy left by Raf Simons at Dior had finally been filled by Jonathan Saunders. In the 24 hours since, the Internet, as its wont to do, has collectively lost its mind.
It's happened too many times in just the past year—Simons was supposedly headed to Calvin Klein, Phoebe Philo was leaving Céline, Alexander McQueen's Sarah Burton was allegedly taking the very same post the Internet's now assigned Saunders. Someone hits publish without comment from the brand or person involved, a blogger picks it up, Twitter retweets, and voila. Instead of waiting for any kind of confirmation, Twitter is already sounding off on the many opinions it has about the new appointment.
Most are camping out in I-don't-know-how-to-feel-about this territory.
Jonathan Saunders for Dior? I don't know how to feel.

Not sure how I'm feeling about Jonathan Saunders at Dior...

Others have already decided this is a terrible idea.
I *do* love Jonathan Saunders though. Always have. If he gets the Dior job I'm buying a round of drinks for everyone on twitter.

Dior's left the job open for so long that we're collectively desperate to fill it with anyone.
