The Chain Wallet's Luxurious Reprise

You know what's annoying about the micro bag trend? Stuffing a wallet in to a purse that's literally the size of an iPhone. Are you supposed to take your ID and debit card a la carte? What if you wind up going to the coffee shop and you don't get a punch on your card because you forgot to toss it in your micro bag?

If you're hellbent on a teeny tiny bag, consider instead the chain wallet. No, not like a biker! (Though Rag & Bone did style some of their men's spring looks with metal chains strung from back pocket to belt loop and they did look pretty cool — but that's another story.)

Luxury brands like Chanel and Prada are taking their wallet styles and affixing a chain for what is exactly as it sounds: a wallet. On a chain. A chain wallet.

They're still a good deal more expensive than a plain wallet, but this is luxury, baby (Givenchy's 'Pandora' wallet costs $725, for example, but the 'Pandora' with chain goes for $1,995, which is just $30 less than the 'Mini Pandora' satchel!). See five high-end takes on the chain wallet in the gallery above, including Proenza Schouler's almost-purse and Dolce & Gabbana's phone-friendly sling.
