Choker necklaces are no longer exclusive to passionate '90s reenactors at music festivals, nor goth die-hards. From The Sisters Jenner to their pals Gigi and Bella, seemingly every pap pic's accessorized with skinny black ribbons and sparkly gold chains pulled tight around the neck. Not into Insta-girl style? Nearly every look Rihanna showed in her debut Puma runway show featured some kind of choker. Chanel makes them, too; Lily-Rose Depp has worn chokers by the brand front row at two of its fashion shows.
In its regenerated form, the choker is available from brands low to high, in styles that range from sweetly subdued (like the thread-thin Catbird chain in the gallery above) to artsy (see Open Houses' bronze masterpiece). As neck-grazers, they're an obvious pair for this season's off-the-shoulder tops and sleeveless styles (though they offset a crewneck sweatshirt just as well).
