Amazon is already a dominant force online, but now the retailer has plans to change the physical retail industry as well. The next stop on Amazon's path of destruction is San Diego where it will open another bookstore, according to Retail Dive.
Just last month, Amazon boasted plans to open as many as 400 bookstores in malls and as outrageous as that number is (even the company pumped the brakes on that figure) you have to start somewhere.
San Diego will be Amazon's second physical store after the first opened in Seattle last year. Signage for the new store is already up and Amazon also listed job openings for retail associates, according to the San Diego Tribune.
The new store will open in San Diego's Westfield University Towne Center Mall, which is in-line with Amazon's plans to use malls as the setting for its hundreds of bookstores.
Amazon's retail stores of the future will include features like reflexive pricing, user ratings displayed in stores, and an app that would let customers seamlessly check out on their phone and avoid waiting in lines.
