Ariana Grande may have skipped the red carpet at the MTV Movie Awards, which taped last night and will air this evening, but the 22-year-old star's on-stage look was worth the wait. For her performance of "Dangerous Woman," Grande went for Old Hollywood glamour in a pink satin gown, white fur stole, and sparkling diamonds — an homage, of course, to iconic bombshell Marilyn Monroe in 1953's Gentlemen Prefer Blondes. (Or to Madonna’s 1984 "Material Girl" music video, depending on how you look at it.) You've got to giggle at the singer's decision to forgo a flaxen dye job or wig for this look, too. Gentlemen may prefer blondes, but Grande will never stray from brunette.

Grande also Instagrammed a sneaky shot of her performance, which you can catch during tonight’s broadcast. Will she do Marilyn justice?
