Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to Vox.com, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.

Intrepid entrepreneurial mother-daughter duo Kim Kardashian West and North West have done it again. While running errands in Encino, Los Angeles earlier today, they invented an entirely new paradigm of trendy intergenerational dressing: the mommy-and-me choker.

The choker has been the subject of much discussion as of late, extending even to celebrities as un-chokerish as Taylor Swift. After reluctantly putting one on for the first time, she mused, "I feel like maybe chokers are the new flower crowns?" Thus, it was so.

But it was Kim Kardashian herself who said it most clearly when she tweeted, "WEAR A THIN BLACK CHOKER." In a nude bodysuit and French braids that also matched North's, she and her daughter both heeded her own advice at the very same time.

Tip: the mommy-and-me thin black choker pairs best with matching hair and transparent shoes.
