For his performance at the 2016 iHeartRadio Music Awards this evening, Justin Bieber showed off his latest hair-related achievement: dreadlocks. Just like his mustache, this was some beginner-level stuff — they're not fully formed, but they're getting there.
The new look was most likely deemed necessary by his team, who must have thought it wise to find a way to keep Bieber's hair out of his eyes, lest he steal another hair tie from a fan's wrist. (You can see several more close-ups on his Instagram.)
Bieber was the first performer of the night (outside of host Jason Derulo, who opened the show with a dance routine), and sang the songs "Love Yourself" and "Company" off his admittedly really good album, Purpose.
The dread debut probably won't be Justin's biggest highlight of the night: He's nominated for a total of five awards and will probably take home at least one of them.
