The latest '70s-via-'90s trend to resurge is the exaggerated platform boot. The style recalls David Bowie's Ziggy Stardust, balancing the strong element of a chunky heel and platform front with the delicateness inherent in wearing any high-high heel. Platform boots were anchors on both Marc Jacobs' and Balenciaga's fall runways, but you don't need to wait 'til September to jump on the style.
The extra height is super elongating — not bad for leg-bearing weather, especially with a vintage A-line mini. Alternatively, pair them with high-waisted, straight-leg jeans. Whatever you decide to put on above the ankle, keep it simple: The boots are striking on their own and don't require much else.
