Kim Kardashian said it most succinctly when she tweeted, in all caps: "WEAR A THIN BLACK CHOKER." The Gigis and Selenas of the world have been heeding her advice since before she even shared it. And now, it appears that Taylor Swift woke up yesterday morning, looked around, sighed, then reluctantly put on a choker of her own.
While shopping in Brentwood, Taylor Swift wore a black long-sleeved top, Frame skinny jeans, Christian Louboutin heels, and a thin black choker with a silver charm. Does she look happy to be wearing this choker? No. No, she does not look happy. This is not Taylor Swift's happy face. This is Taylor Swift's happy face.
This is the face of someone whose signature style — cutesy matching sets and cats as purses — is not the style du jour. This is the face of someone who has been forced into chokerdom by the rest of Hollywood society.
Free Taylor Swift.
Update: The choker in question is by Carbon & Hyde and costs $2,185. Once again, free Taylor Swift.
