Olivia Wilde, Rose Byrne, and Emmy Rossum Were the Only Guests at the Marimekko for Target Party

Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to Vox.com, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.

Andy Warhol once said, "One’s company, two’s a crowd, and three’s a party." Going by the artist’s logic, this means that Target’s celebration for its collaboration with print-happy Finnish brand Marimekko can accurately be described as a party, despite having approximately three guests in total.

The morning of the event, Target’s PR sent out an email informing invitees that "due to inclement weather," the outdoor fête on the High Line had been cancelled. BUT! It apparently wasn’t cancelled for everyone, because celebrity guests Olivia Wilde, Rose Byrne, and Emmy Rossum still dutifully turned up yesterday evening for photo opps with the collaboration’s accompanying art installations. Evidence below:

So the next time you find yourself envying that #celeblyfe, remember: Stars still have to show up and look happy when the weather’s gross, even when you don’t.

Marimekko for Target’s High Line installations will be open to the public from today until Monday — go on a sunny day, because you can! — and the collection will be available in-store and at Target.com on April 17th.
