Rihanna — a woman who can wear anything she pleases, particularly the things that make normal people look crazy — just one-upped herself by stepping out in LA this week in what could (loosely) be defined as a paper bag.
More specifically, it's a forest green Nina Ricci paper leather coat from the summer 2016 collection. (You can see the fabric up-close here). Of course, Rihanna wore the coat as a dress, which is how designer Guillaume Henry sent it down the runway.
Getting Rihanna in one of your collection's most recognizable pieces is a coup for any designer, but it's especially important for the Nina Ricci label right now. The summer 2016 runway show was Henry's second for the fashion house, and it was met with less than favorable reviews. For the previous five years, Nina Ricci was run by Peter Copping, who left for Oscar de la Renta.
Regardless, the Rihanna effect is real, and we wouldn't be surprised if fans start clamoring for crinkly green coats of their own soon.
