Information about the enigmatic Melania Trump is hitting the internet in dribs and drabs as her husband marches toward a presidential nomination. First there was the GQ profile in which we learned that Melania claims to hate Botox and that her Dior wedding dress cost $100,000. Now, thanks to an interview with DuJour, we have a glimpse into her daily life at Trump Tower on Fifth Avenue.
Turns out, the would-be first lady at home is pretty much just like she appears in public.
Louboutins at home: She wears a black Chanel coat, skinny black pants by The Row, and Louboutin heels to meet writer Mickey Rapkin, who made a special mention of Melania's 25-carat diamond ring. Because really, how could you not?
A Versailles-like apartment: The Trump residence is described as a "floating Versailles." It's a 30,000-square-foot triplex on the 66th floor of Trump Tower, and the views of Central Park are as incredible as you would imagine. "It’s beautiful," Melania says of the view. "You kind of get used to it, but still you know, especially now, it’s beautiful."
The whole apartment seems very focused on 10-year-old Barron Trump's happiness. There's a child-size Mercedes Benz in the dining room, and Barron has his whole run of the third floor.
"The third floor is Barron’s," Melania told DuJour. "It’s much easier that way. For him as well. He has friends over, he has his toys. He has a playdate tomorrow and is bringing two friends over. They come here, they go upstairs and they play. They kick a ball, they play with iPads. I don’t allow Xbox before homework is done."
Totally unironic TV choices: Her favorite show? Empire. She describes it as "interesting, something for fun."
High coffee standards: She lives in a building with a Starbucks but she doesn't get coffee delivered. "I drink coffee, but I don’t drink Starbucks. My son likes it, the what do you call it? The Frappuccino? He likes that."
Oh, and some subtle shade for the Clintons: Even in a lightweight conversation about home and style, the topic turned to the Clintons — specifically, what Bill and Hillary gave Melania and Donald as a wedding gift. "I don’t think they sent a gift," she said. "Some people didn’t send gifts."
There's no value judgement attached to that "some people" at all, right?
