Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to Vox.com, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.
I'll just say this up front:
Asking cute teenage boys to pose for a magazine editorial with even cuter puppies is a cheap trick. That said, cheap is effective, which is why Teen Vogue had its June/July cover stars — Anwar Hadid, baby brother of Bella and Gigi, and Cameron Dallas, Vine star and new Calvin Klein model — tote around a bunch of wriggling pups while wearing classic teen boy looks, like Converse sneakers, gym socks with Adidas slides, NASA flight suits, and Gucci sweaters.
Here, watch this. Look how cute.
Dallas even says that the last text he sent was "a video to my mom and my sister of the dogs." And Hadid says he just texted his mom to tell her he loves her. Sweet, wow.
Adorable as it is, the shoot pales in comparison to what will remain the greatest teen boys and puppies cover of all time. I'm talking, of course, about One Direction for Wonderland in 2012.
Remember? How could you forget?
RIP the 1D that used to be. RIP simpler times. Greatest magazine cover ever.
